3.27 INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFERS

(See also Transfers Policy: Attendance Areas)

Effective July 1, 2024, requests for intra-district transfers between schools within the District’s attendance zones for resident students will be considered at any time in the year based on capacity. Transfers are contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory discipline and attendance record. At the end of each school year, the District may deny the continued intra-district transfer of the student for disciplinary reasons outlined in OKLA. STAT. tit. 70, § 24-101.3(A)-(C) & (E), or if the student has ten or more absences in one semester that are not excused due to illness or for the reasons provided for in OKLA. STAT. tit. 70, § 10-105(B). Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation if required.

Except for a child in the custody of the Department of Human Services in foster care, students are prohibited from having more than two intra-district transfers per school year. However, the student may always reenroll at any time in the school site within the attendance zone where the student resides.

Intra-district transfer requests shall include an enrollment preference. The District shall reserve capacity for the following:

  1. students who reside in the Jenks Public Schools’ attendance zones within the District’s boundary,

  2. students who attended the school site the prior school year,

  3. siblings of students who are already enrolled at the school site,

  4. students in the custody of the Department of Human Services and living in foster care who reside in the home of another student who is granted an intra-district transfer,

  5. children of school district employees who wish to attend a different school site within the school district, and

  6. students who change residence within a school district and who wish to attend the same school site.

Determination of Grade Level Capacity for Intra-District Transfers

Before the first day of July,  October, January, and April of each school year, the Jenks Public Schools Board of Education shall establish the number of intra-district transfer students the District has the capacity to accept in each grade level for each school site to plan for late summer enrollment and in-District growth, provide adequate staffing, and ensure that class sizes at school sites meet federal programs' comparability requirements. The grade level capacity reflecting these dates will be published on the District’s website and reported to the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
