STEM Learning

At Jenks Public Schools, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning is not limited to one discipline, one lab, or one experience. From pre-kindergarten through high school, STEM centers on the individual learning styles and interests of every student.

By creating hands-on experiences and continually encouraging creativity, STEM learning helps students develop problem solving skills by connecting classrooms to the real world.

STEM learning is a systematic and sustainable approach focused on three core concepts:

Integrating STEM inquiry across subject areas
Rather than isolating or elevating one subject above another, teachers integrate STEM experiences into a variety of classes. STEM learning provides students with a broader view of how to improve communities and tackle global issues.

Extending creativity and problem solving through STEM Learning Labs
Students engage in real-world projects in technology-rich environments to develop skills in design, engineering, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Learning Lab inquiries include:

 Robotics
Mechanics and structures
Alternative and renewable energy
Circuitry
Publishing and multi-media
Science and data analysis
Animation and coding

 Increasing career and community connections
Through partnerships, internships, and shadowing experiences at local universities and industries, students participate in challenges and competitions, and prepare to pursue college degrees in STEM fields.
