In accordance with federal guidelines, Jenks Public Schools posts a Return To Learn Plan containing important information for students, staff, and families for the 2022-23 school year.
The following plan has been approved by the JPS Board of Education. The Return To Learn Plan is subject to change.
LEARNING OPTIONS
JPS is offering in-person learning for all grades (PreK-12).
School sites will remain open for in-person instruction unless the effects of COVID-19 cases necessitate a transition to temporary distance learning.
Students in 7th and 8th grade have the option to enroll in a blended, online learning environment.
For 9th-12th grade students, virtual coursework for individual courses or full-time may be selected as space and schedules allow.
ACCOMMODATIONS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Students receiving special education services will be provided modifications and accommodations per Individual Education Program (IEP).
Students’ Individualized Education Program will continue to include a contingency plan for extended periods of distance learning.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Students have access to counseling at school by District counselors and by licensed counselors provided through partnerships with community mental health agencies.
Staff members are offered free and confidential counseling and other resources through the District’s Employee Assistance Program.
ACTIVITIES, ARTS, AND ATHLETICS
All school-sponsored activities and athletic teams will resume normal practices and protocols.
TRANSPORTATION
All buses have masks and hand sanitizer on board.
Bus air-conditioning systems will run in fresh-air mode and without recirculation to ensure riders constantly receive a large supply of clean, outside air.
STRATEGIES TO REDUCE RISK OF EXPOSURE
Parents/guardians are expected to screen their child for COVID-19 and other illnesses each day prior to sending their student to school.
Students and staff should stay home if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness.
Students or staff who test positive for COVID-19 shall not attend school/work for a period of at least five (5) full days.
In alignment with state and national health organizations, JPS will not conduct contact tracing
JPS will continue to require anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 to isolate according to CDC guidelines regardless of vaccination status.
Masks will not be required, but masks will be available for students, staff, and visitors who wish to wear one.
Students will be reminded to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds prior to eating, and especially after sneezing, coughing, or blowing their nose.
Students and staff will have access to hand sanitizer in classrooms and cafeterias.
At the end of each scheduled event or school day, the District’s cleaning contractor will clean frequently touched surfaces and objects.
Improved heating, ventilation and air conditioning filters have been installed in all District buildings that will filter one hundred percent (100%) of a room’s air every eight (8) hours and capture 95% of all COVID-19 droplets
Each school site is equipped with water bottle filling stations.
JPS will remain in contact with the Tulsa Health Department and Oklahoma State Department of Health concerning COVID-19 guidelines and safety protocols enacted in our local area and state.
Oklahoma State Statute Title 70 Section 1210.190 (SB 658), effective July 1, 2021, restricts school districts from requiring a COVID-19 vaccine for students.
State and local health departments and the CDC recommend COVID-19 vaccines for those eligible.
District Health Clinics will maintain a list of local providers and can share locations to schedule appointments for diagnostic or screening testing as needed with staff, students, and families.
