Teachers at Collaboration

At Jenks West Elementary, the commitment to excellence in education is not merely a goal but a journey, particularly in our role as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World school. This academic year has marked a pivotal moment as our dedicated educators engaged in a year-long reflection on our IB teaching practices. This introspective journey is part of a larger 5-year cycle of continuous improvement, culminating in an eagerly anticipated evaluation visit by a team of IB professionals in the fall of 2024.

The Share Fair was a testament to the power of collaboration. Teachers, representing various disciplines and grade levels, came together in small groups to share their insights, challenges, and triumphs in implementing IB teaching practices. This dynamic exchange of ideas fostered a sense of community and a shared commitment to delivering the best possible educational experience for our students.

Within each small group, success stories emerged, demonstrating the impact of IB teaching on student engagement and learning outcomes. From inquiry-based projects that sparked curiosity to the integration of global perspectives into the curriculum, our teachers showcased the transformative power of the IB framework.

In the spirit of reflection, our teachers also candidly addressed challenges encountered during their instruction of IB practices. This open dialogue created a supportive environment where educators could share strategies, seek advice, and collaborate on solutions.

The journey towards the IB evaluation visit in the fall of 2024 beckons, and we stand poised to demonstrate the collective growth and commitment to excellence that has defined this transformative year. Jenks West Elementary is not merely a school; it is a community dedicated to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students through the rich tapestry of IB education.
