At Jenks West Elementary, the 4th Grade Leadership Program provides students with a unique opportunity to mentor younger students. Through activities like reading to them and simply spending quality time together, the program fosters connection and growth for both the mentors and the younger students.
Recently, the 4th graders visited the Pre-K classes, sharing their time and enthusiasm. One 4th-grade leader, Mya Kinter, shared her excitement: “I like it when the little students get excited and run up to see me. 4th Grade Leadership gives me something to look forward to and something to share with my parents at the end of my day. I look forward to every Tuesday.”
This impactful program has been brought to life by counselors Amy Lagere ,Courtney Freese, Sandy Powers, and Hailey Berkinshaw, who have worked hard to encourage and guide these 4th graders. Their aim is to build confidence and leadership skills in these students, setting them up to become the future leaders of tomorrow.
