changes to elementary and intermediate attendance zones for 2025-26

The Jenks Public Schools’ Board of Education voted to approve changes to elementary and intermediate attendance zones effective for the 2025-26 school year and beyond.

JPS has conducted several demographic studies over the years and the latest study (concluded April 2023) indicates significantly more enrollment growth on the west side of the Arkansas River, as well as the potential for more future growth on the west side of the District. By making these changes, JPS is maximizing taxpayer dollars by utilizing the available classroom space and resources without having to construct additional classrooms or build new schools.

Enrollment will be reduced at Northwest Elementary, West Elementary, and West Intermediate, while enrollment numbers will increase at East Elementary and East Intermediate.

Approximately 595 students will be affected by these changes based on enrollment data from November 7, 2024.

"For this decision, we considered the future of our entire District and the numbers tell the story about where our growth is occurring and where we have capacity," stated Chuck Forbes, President of the JPS Board of Education. "We certainly understand change can be difficult for students and families. We always want to make decisions based on accurate data, and in this case, we believe this is a fiscally responsible decision that sets us up to accommodate our growth."

If you live within one of the affected areas, you should have received an email notification on Monday, November 11. If you are unsure whether your student is affected by these attendance zone changes, you can visit this page and enter your address to see what school site your student(s) will attend for the 2025-26 school year.

These changes do not go into effect until the 2025-26 school year. All students will finish the 2024-25 school year at their current site.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents/Guardians of students affected by attendance zone changes are invited to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, November 19, at 7 p.m. on the third floor of the Jenks Math & Science Center located on the campus of Jenks High School (505 North 1st St. Jenks, OK 74037)
