Be honest, parents. Time is moving too fast, and your son or daughter is about to hit that milestone of starting kindergarten. It's exciting, but also a bit overwhelming - especially for those students who are entering a classroom environment for the first time. No worries, mom and dad. We've got you covered. The JPS website has answers to your most common questions about what to expect in kindergarten. https://www.jenksps.org/.../page/kindergarten-what-to-expect Click, read, take a breath, and trust us...your kid is going to have an incredible year!

Talk about a full circle moment. 🦉 Back in March, the 2nd Grade Dual Language classes went on a nature walk in Rentie Grove with Mrs. Cunningham. First an owl pellet was found, then, a student named Marcel saw a baby owl laying on the ground next to a tall tree. The owl was the size of a small cat and covered in downy feathers, not moving around like it should be at that age. Mrs. Cunningham called Dr. Welch at Forest Trails vet office and they thought it best to take a look at the owl. Initially, the wildlife rehabilitation specialist, Nikki Smith, stated that the owl (now named Luca) was uninjured. When the owl didn't perk up, it was clear Luca was dehydrated and had parasites. It took many days for Luca to regain strength. By this time, it would be futile to release the owl, as the parent may have already abandoned the nest or moved on. Nikki worked with Luca for the next 2.5 months to help Luca learn how to hunt, fly, and even groom Luca like the parent would. Finally, on June 9, Luca was ready to be released. Nikki and her husband Casey, who also worked to help Luca, met Mrs. Cunningham in Rentie Grove. Nikki lifted the lid, offering the beautiful forest behind her. Luca hopped out, bobbed it's head and flew directly to building D to survey its surroundings. Luca stayed there some time as everyone left. Later, Luca was gone: set free to enjoy the beauty of Rentie Grove and the surrounding area.
