Middle School - A Tradition of Excellence with a Vision for Tomorrow.

Monday in 7-4 Science, students in Mrs. Swift’s classes explored potential energy through a hands-on lab. Using tennis balls and meter sticks, students tested how height affects potential energy by dropping the balls from different heights and measuring the bounce back. The bounce back showed how much stored potential energy the ball had. Students discovered that the higher the drop, the greater the potential energy!

Students enrolled in the elective Social Studies of Sport with Mr. Demuth, Mrs. Prater, or Ms. Baker had the chance to learn about careers in sports, ask questions, and even meet the Drillers’ famous mascot. A big thank you to the Tulsa Drillers for coming out to JMS and inspiring our future sports leaders!

It was a home-run event!

💚 Our Health & Wellness students just wrapped up a powerful 2-day suicide prevention event!

➡️ Day 1: Mrs. Waddel, our amazing school counselor, shared protective factors and resources to support mental health and prevent teen suicide.
➡️ Day 2: Students filled our campus with HOPE—covering sidewalks with uplifting chalk messages and hanging colorful notes of encouragement throughout the building.

We couldn’t be prouder of these students for spreading positivity and showing what it means to take care of one another! 🌟

Once again, our PTAG is hosting the most epic dodgeball game EVER! SMASHDOWN: Dodgeball tournament where the winners go against the teachers!!🤾‍♀️🤾 Pre-order new shirts through PowerSchool. Shirts are $15. Students can watch free with AP, or $5. Students can participate for $10. *Previous year’s shirts will be available for sale during lunch Oct 6-8 for a discounted price of $10. 👕

918 Day! We had a special visitor at Jenks Middle School today! 👋📚 Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols stopped by to help us celebrate 918 Day and took time to tour several classrooms, meet students, and see the incredible learning happening within our halls! 🏫✨ Thank you, Mayor Nichols, for spending part of your 918 Day with us and for inspiring the next generation of leaders! Special shout out to our band, StuCo officers, Ms. Spivey, Mr.Ratliff, and Ms. Suggs for helping facilitate this amazing opportunity. Go Trojans!

Tonight is our BACK to SCHOOL night. We welcome parents and guardians to come and follow your student's schedule and hear from his/her teachers. This is a time to get general information about each subject, teacher, and even ways to help your kiddo be successful. First period starts at 6:30! Don't be tardy!😉

Tech Engineering 1 students practiced the engineering design process by designing and constructing Ping-Pong ball runs.

🫧 Science is more fun with bubbles! Mrs. Baker's 7th graders had a blast experimenting with different dish soaps to see which one makes the biggest bubbles!

On Friday in Mrs. Swift’s 7th Grade Science class, students became physicists for the day! Using a physics ramp, toy car, and weighted marbles, they experimented to see how mass affects the speed and kinetic energy of a moving object. Today, students will take their data and graph their results. What do you predict happens to speed and KE as mass increases?

Math took flight today! ✈️Mrs. Davis's 7th grade math students put their problem-solving skills to the test in a paper airplane contest. From calculating angles to testing aerodynamics, they discovered just how far math can go when you fold it into fun! Each class also had a celebrity challenger: Mr. Ratliff first hour, Mr. Rose second hour, and Mr. Weis fifth hour. Mr. Weis was the only successful competitor. 💪🏻

Today at our JPS rally the Jenks Foundation honored 2 of our finest with the Vision of Excellence Award. Congratulations to Mr Porter, science teacher, and Mrs. Cook, counselor. They were recognized for demonstrating outstanding qualities of leadership, continuous improvement, customer focus, and teamwork. JMS is proud of you! Congratulations!

🌈Ms. Baker's class had a blast doing a Rainbow Lab today! Students practiced using lab equipment safely, learned the importance of following directions carefully, and got hands-on experience with lab safety. Great work, scientists! 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬
