Dr. Butterfield's site visit at Jenks Freshman Academy gave us all the creative vibes! ✏️📓 This morning, we had the opportunity to step into Ms. Foreman's English class where students were implementing different writing processes. Dr. Butterfield, Principal Gray, and the students took a glance at different images of different people and jotted down how the person made them feel. Students later used those explanations to develop characters. Thank you, Ms. Foreman, for welcoming us into your classroom!

The second year of Growing Through the Arts, an immersion of art experiences for students funded by the Jenks Public Schools Foundation, has commenced for the 2023-24 school year! Things kicked off this week at Jenks Southeast Elementary, where Symon Hajjar of Hot Toast Music Co taught Kindergartners the art of songwriting. Students used tiny pianos to help spark their imagination to create melodies! The students collaborated with Symon on each melody, and songs were brought to life! Growing Through The Arts creates unique experiences in the arts for pre-k through 11th grade students, whether that be observing at an art museum, engaging with the Tulsa Ballet, or even exploring at the Discovery Lab. Each grade will have a different experience engaging in the arts as they grow.
