A beautiful day for some beautification! Members of the JHS Student Body Leadership went to Southeast Elementary today to plant flowers with the younger Trojans as part of the DUB Week fundraiser for the Jenks Community Food Bank. Nothing better than seeing this kind of collaboration among our students!

You may remember when we recognized Jenks High School senior, Raymond Jiang, for being named a Regional Finalist for the Coca-Cola Scholarship last month. Out of over 91,000 applicants, Raymond has officially been named one of 150 Coca-Cola Scholars! Next month, he will be traveling to Atlanta to meet with the other scholars and be awarded a $20,000 scholarship. Raymond is the second JHS student to receive this exceptional honor since 2007. But hold on! That's not all of his incredible achievements! Not only has he been named a Coca-Cola Scholar, but he has earned the prestigious distinction of being awarded a 2023 Oklahoma Academic All-State Scholar from the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence! Only 100 seniors are elected for all of Oklahoma and are selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community involvement, as well as letters of recommendation and an essay submitted by each nominee. Raymond will receive a $1,500 cash award, an Academic All-State honor cord and a medallion in May when he is recognized at the foundation’s Academic Awards Celebration. Way to go, Raymond, on both of these outstanding achievements! We are so proud of you!

Jenks Middle School students experienced rhythm like they never have before with Jeff Porter and his crew! From Hip Hop to Congo, Jeff had our Trojans engaged through a musical journey of rhythm and sound. Thank you to the Jenks Public Schools Foundation for making this experience possible through the new Growing through the Arts initiative.

You might have seen Robin Olds, Michelle Obama, Jane Goodall, and even Lebron James make an appearance this morning at Jenks Southeast Elementary, but don't be fooled! It was just JSE 4th graders dressed up to present their People of Purpose presentations! Students have been working hard researching the people they think have made an impact on others. Today, they were finally able to present their research dressed up as the person they find so influential. Great work, Trojans!

Congrats to the 3rd and 4th graders from East Elementary who saw months of practice and hard work pay off today as they participated in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Challenge Bowl in Okmulgee. The competition tests students' knowledge about history, customs, and language of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and these Trojans have been preparing for this day since October. Love to see our students embracing these opportunities!

1️⃣ month. 4️⃣ sites. 1️⃣4️⃣ happy Trojans. During the month of November, The Swerve Foundation visited all four JPS elementary sites to gift a free bike and helmet to several lucky Trojans. Swerve events are always full of smiles, happy tears, and an endless amount of cheers and high-fives from classmates. We are continuously blown away by the kindness and generosity of the members of The Swerve Foundation, the people at Justin Carlton State Farm, Flat-Branch Mortgage, and Tallgrass Estate Planning, LLP who made this a reality. If you were wondering what it's like to attend a Swerve event, just check out these pics! 🚲

This morning, members of the JPS Board of Education and administrators stepped into classrooms and media centers for an inside look into the learning and progress at our school sites. Highlights from the Board Showcase included a tour of the updated media center at Jenks Southeast Elementary, the evolution of Jenks East Elementary's Dual Language Program, Jenks East Intermediate students implementing their grammar skills, and creating our own abstract art pieces at Jenks West Intermediate. Thanks to all the principals, teachers, and staff members who made this showcase possible!
