REMINDER: No school Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. See you on Tuesday, Trojans!

JEE Reads has fully commenced with the help of a few local mascots and Jenks JV Pom, of course!
Every spring, Jenks East Elementary gives all JEE students a copy of an award-winning book to read at home with their families. They keep the title secret and share hints throughout the first week back from winter break. Today, local mascots and Jenks Pom helped announce JEE will be reading "The Worst Mascot Ever" by James Preller! Happy reading, Trojans!

Dr. Butterfield might have learned a thing or two from these Trojans during her site visit at Jenks High School this morning. We visited Ms. Good's Food Prep and Nutrition class where they were learning about famous chefs and Ms. Grable's Adulting class where they were threading needles and sewing buttons on fabric. Thank you for the fun morning, JHS!

Due to the winter weather and increasingly hazardous road conditions, Jenks Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10. Tomorrow is a traditional snow day. It is not a distance learning day.
All Community Education programs are canceled for Friday and the Early Childhood Center will be closed. All activities and athletic events scheduled for Friday are canceled.
This snow day will have to be made up at the end of the school year.
Thank you!
JPS Administration

'Tis the season of giving and that's what the students at the Jenks Alternative Center demonstrated this morning as they partnered with the Jenks Optimist Club, Jenks Police Department, Jenks Public Schools Police Department, BancFirst, and Muskogee Nation to prepare food baskets for families in need right here in the District. A total of 177 baskets were made to provide families with a holiday meal thanks to the generosity of these students and our community!

Young meteorologists in training! Students in Mrs. Brodeur's 4th grade class at West Elementary got a crash course in weather science from the team at NewsChannel 8. The students learned about how wind speed and damage determine tornado ratings and even got to launch a weather balloon to see how data is collected and used to create accurate forecasts. Thanks to NewsChannel 8 for creating this tremendous STEM learning opportunity!

SURPRISE! You're admitted to The University of Tulsa!
6️⃣7️⃣ Jenks High School students were surprised with admission offers to the University of Tulsa this afternoon! TU's Admission Team, Goldie, drumline, and cheer were there to share the news and kick off a much-deserved acceptance celebration. We couldn't be more excited for you, Trojans! #ReignCane

Jenny Loredo, a Jenks lifer from the JHS class of '21, spoke to AVID classes this morning to give advice and encouragement to students about how to prepare for college now and what to expect in college later. Jenny is currently at the University of Tulsa studying Law and is the communications chair for Gen1TU, a group that assists first generation college students. It's special to see Trojan alums come back to serve and prepare underclassmen! Thanks for sharing your insight, Jenny!

Out of 423 story submissions, 3 JPS students were selected as winners in the Tulsa City-County Library's 2024 Spooky Story Contest. Each student's story will be published online and printed as part of TCCL's permanent collection. Congratulations to these Trojans on their creativity, imagination, and storytelling ability!

Here's a glance into Dr. Butterfield's site visit at Jenks West Elementary this morning! 👀
The first stop was Ms. Julian's 3rd grade class where students were constructing bridges out of popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and other fun materials. Afterward, we wrapped up the visit in Ms. Burchart's STEM Lab where students were creating their own stop-motion Lego movie! Our Trojans are so creative! Way to go, JWE!

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are in the rearview and we've arrived at #GivingTuesday. Want to make a difference for students, staff, and your community? Give. Want to help enhance the educational experience at JPS? Give. www.trojan20.com
Thank you, Trojans!

What a grand way to start the week! ☺️
Jenks Northwest Elementary's new monthly event, Growing with Grands, allows grandparents and Legend Senior Living residents to play games and centers with students in Pre-K classrooms. It's a sweet sight to see! Thank you, Grands!

Today, the JPS Board of Education, administrators, community representatives, and elected officials visited different sites to observe learning, progress, and opportunities in our District. Each stop was tied into the attributes and characteristics of the Portrait of a Graduate framework.
Highlights from the Fall Board Showcase include student leadership opportunities at Jenks Northwest Elementary, effective communication at Jenks Southeast Elementary, college and career opportunities, and using inquiry mindsets in student-centered classrooms at Jenks High School, and broadcast media at the Jenks Freshman Academy. Thanks to all the principals, teachers, and staff members who made this showcase possible! Special thanks to Senator Dave Rader, Senator Brian Guthrie, Senator Aaron Reinhardt, and Representative Mark Tedford for joining us today!

Jenks Northwest Elementary students enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal together this afternoon, made even more special with homemade placemats, fun conversation starters, and NWE staff - aka servers - filling everyone's cup with lemonade. This is a perfect way to show our Trojans that sharing a meal with friends and family is a great way to have quality time with those we appreciate. Cheers to good food, great company, and making memories! 🦃🍽
