Dr. Butterfield just wrapped up a fantastic site visit at Jenks Alternative Center. Ms. Cox's class did an incredible job presenting their Holocaust timeline they have created using the hallway, and we had a blast playing Superfight debate card game in Mr. Boatright's class. Four JHS students have been selected as semifinalists in the 2024-25 Coca-Cola Scholarship Program! Only 1,336 semifinalists were chosen among 105,000+ applicants across the country because of their extraordinary leadership, academic achievements, and community involvement. This is the first time JHS has had more than two semifinalists for this prestigious scholarship. If chosen to move forward in this process, 250 will advance as Regional Finalists, with 150 becoming Coca-Cola Scholars and receiving a $20,000 college scholarship. Join us in congratulating Harini Senthil, Emily Seo, Mustafa Siddiqui, and Eva Mahajan on their outstanding accomplishment!

Simon Hajjar of Hot Toast just wrapped up an inspiring session with some Northwest Elementry kindergarteners, teaching them the art of songwriting. This incredible experience kicked off the third year of Growing through the Arts, an immersive art initiative supported by the Jenks Public Schools Foundation. Growing Through The Arts creates unique experiences in the arts for pre-k through 11th grade students, whether that be observing at an art museum, engaging with the Tulsa Ballet, or even exploring at the Discovery Lab. Each grade will have a different experience engaging in the arts as they grow. Here's to another year of exploring the arts!

It looks like spooky science, but it's just an opportunity for Ms. Haase's Advanced Anatomy and Physiology class to learn about wounds and burns hands-on! Jenks High School students have been studying how wounds and burns heal, and today they applied that knowledge by creating artificial wounds to determine the stage of healing, type of healing, degree of the burn, and more!
(Just another reminded that none of these wounds are real!)
