Keith Riggs at press conference announcing stepping down from football head coaching position

After seven seasons at the helm of the Jenks football program, Keith Riggs is stepping aside as head coach and taking on a full-time role as an Assistant Athletic Director. Jenks Public Schools announced Adam Gaylor as the next head coach of the Jenks Trojans. Gaylor served as the defensive coordinator at Jenks for the past six seasons.

“This was by no means an easy decision, but at this point in my life and career, I felt the timing was right to move away from the head coaching role,” stated Riggs. “It’s been an honor to serve this program and this outstanding school district. I am forever grateful to the players, coaches, and supporters of Jenks football for everything they did to make this program the best in the state. Adam Gaylor is one of the best coaches and coordinators in the state of Oklahoma. His knowledge of the game and his passion for our players is unparalleled. He knows the expectations here at Jenks, he understands the standard of excellence, and I know our entire program and community will embrace him as the next head coach of the Trojans.”

Riggs took over Jenks football prior to the 2018 season and guided the Trojans to back-to-back state championships in 2020 and 2021. With an overall record of 68-21, Riggs’ teams made seven consecutive playoff appearances and were never eliminated prior to the 6A-I semifinals. Working under Allan Trimble, Riggs was an assistant coach on the Jenks staff from 2003-2017 and spent eight seasons as the Trojans defensive coordinator.

“Becoming the head coach of the Jenks Trojans is an absolute dream come true,” Gaylor said. “This program and this place mean so much to me and my family. I could not imagine a better culture or a more talented group of coaches to work alongside every single day. I am fully aware of the rich history of Jenks football, and I humbled and honored to be in this position.”

During Gaylor’s tenure as defensive coordinator, Jenks made four Class 6A-I State Finals appearances in  six seasons. Gaylor’s 2021 defensive unit allowed 8 points per game, the second lowest in school history behind the famed 1997 Legion of Doom squad. In 2021, Gaylor was named a Broyles Award finalist, given to the top assistant football coach in the state.

Gaylor spent his previous three seasons as defensive coordinator for the Mustang Broncos. In 2016, Gaylor’s first year on the Mustang staff, the Broncos reached the Class 6A-I semifinals. Before his tenure at Mustang, Gaylor served as the Westmoore head coach in 2014 and 2015.

From 2007 to 2013, Gaylor was the defensive coordinator at Broken Arrow under head coaches Ron Lancaster and Steve Spavital. In 2011, Gaylor’s defense helped guide the Tigers to a runner-up finish in Class 6A, while setting a school record for takeaways. During the 2006 season, Gaylor served as the secondary coach at the University of Central Oklahoma.

In 2005, Gaylor served as the defensive coordinator at Class 4A Wagoner High School and helped to turn around a 2-8 squad in 2004, to lead them to the State Finals for the first time in 50 years, with his defense giving up only 10 PPG including 4 shutouts.

Before his stint at Wagoner, Gaylor was the secondary coach at Northeastern A&M Junior College during the 2003 & 2004 seasons. In 2003, the Norsemen ranked #2 nationally in the final NJCAA poll.

Gaylor is married to his wife, Kinsey, and has two children, Addyson (17) and Cason (12).
