JENKS ANNOUNCES JAMIE COMBS AS HEAD COACH OF GIRLS BASKETBALL

JENKS, Okla. – Jenks Public Schools is recommending Jamie Combs to the Board of Education for the position of Head Girls Basketball Coach. Combs spent the past three seasons at the helm of the girls basketball program at Tuttle High School where she posted an overall record of 69-19 and guided the Lady Tigers to the 4A State Tournament in 2023 and 2024.

“I am thrilled and honored to be the next head coach of Lady Trojan Basketball,” stated Combs. “I was drawn to this opportunity because Jenks is a district with a strong tradition of excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. I want to continue to build and expand upon this tradition within the girls basketball program by teaching and empowering these young ladies to be great, both on and off the basketball court - great leaders, great students, great athletes, and great people. The future of Lady Trojan Basketball is bright, and I can’t wait to get started!”

Prior to her coaching stint at Tuttle, Combs led successful girls basketball teams at Piedmont High School, Union High School, and Berryhill High School. She was an assistant coach at Mustang High School for two seasons before taking the job at Tuttle. Combs, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Tulsa and a master’s degree in sports administration from East Central University, has earned recognition throughout her career as one of the top coaches in Oklahoma. In 2023 and 2024, she was named the Region Coach of the Year by the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA), and received Basketball All-State Coach honors in 2023, as well as being named the Western Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. Combs was the 2015 Suburban Conference Girls Basketball Coach of the Year during her time at Piedmont and overall, she has guided her teams to four state tournament appearances as a head coach, reaching the semifinals in 2023 at Tuttle and in 2015 at Piedmont.

“This is a great day for Lady Trojan basketball as we welcome Jamie, her husband Chris, and her two stepsons, Keylun and Keynun, to the Trojan Family,” remarked Clay Martin, Jenks Director of Athletics. “Jamie certainly brings a wealth of experience and knowledge into our program, but most importantly, she brings a proven track record of building relationships with her players and maximizing the potential of her teams. At every stop in her coaching career, she has improved her program. She has a gift for connecting with young women and empowering them to be their best. We know we hired one of the best coaches in Oklahoma, and we can’t wait to see Jamie get to work.”
