Led by our librarian, Shelbee Chamberlin, and Gifted teachers, Jamie Powers and Jocelyn Olsen, students became actual authors through the NaNoWriMo club (short for National Novel Writing Month). In the club, students had to write a minimum of 10,000 words in one month. This year we had 67 students successfully publish a novel with several having published their second novel. In all, the students wrote 1,002,591 total words in their published novels! Way to go JEI students!

EISSO students helped welcome incoming 4th graders from JSE, EE, WI and NW. We are so excited to welcome all of the new students to JEI!

Other JEI students were celebrated and recognized as members of the @Jenks Public Schools NAE Native American Education members. Congratulations to all of our NAE members!

Last week, all of our 5th grade students performed an end of the year musical, 'Let's Rock", led by Lauren Garcia and Mikey Morris. The students did an amazing job and we are so proud of our talented music teachers, who pour their hearts into their students every day!

The Jenks Vocal Music cast of the musical The Addams Family, visited our students. You have several more opportunities to see their show! Jenks Vocal Music has the most talented high school students around! Check out the @Jenks Vocal Music Facebook page for show details.

Each quarter, students are nominated as True Trojans by teachers and staff. At our last assembly, a few True Trojan students from each grade level were randomly chosen to have lunch with our principals, Catrina Thomas and Jacki Taylor. We are so proud of all students who show good character and are recognized by staff members. JEI students are making a positive difference each day!

Students from Mrs. Cunningham's 5th grade class attended the Jenks Community Food Bank to help out. They were awarded this field trip by donating the most food during our Canned Food Drive.

The 3rd Quarter Character Trait assembly featured a special guest speaker, Zach Anglin. He is the world's first quadruple amputee licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor. His motivating speech focused on the character traits of courage and perseverance and encouraged students to seek out their goals and pursue them!
The assembly was opened with our PTAG Color Run Fundraiser's highest earners in 5th and 6th grades. 5th grader, Matt Villalovos and 6th grader, Sophia Rogers had so much fun smashing a pie into our beloved counselor, Emily Copsey's face while we all celebrated their achievements. Thanks for being a good sport, Emily! Additional thanks to our guest speaker, Zach Anglin for motivating our students to reach their highest goals! You are a true inspiration!

Our 6th grade Orchestra and Band students performed demonstrations for current JEI 5th graders so they could learn more about each program before filling out 6th grade enrollment cards. JHS orchestra students also performed for our students. We are so proud of the progress that the 6th graders have made in just one school year together!

Introducing the 2024-25 Site Teachers of the Year! These educators were selected by their peers at each JPS site because of the way they connect with students, mentor colleagues, innovate in their classrooms, and consistently demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of Jenks Public Schools. These ten individuals are relentless advocates for students and public education. Our community is so fortunate to have teachers like these (and many others), who inspire our next generation of leaders with their genuine care and passion for what they do. Please join us in congratulating them!
