Congratulations to the Jenks East Intermediate 6th graders who competed at the MathCounts regional competition today! Our students competed against 6th-8th graders from the NE Oklahoma region. Elena ZhangWang won the top 6th grader award and won an Oplet math program subscription for JEI! We got to celebrate Garrett’s birthday today, too! Finally, a big shout out to JEI alumni in the last three pictures who were competing at the middle school. They won the top overall team award, and Arin Tripathy and Addison Baker were in the top 5 individuals overall. Coach Nicolette Hall is so proud of all of them!

Exactly two weeks from today, you can play a part in shaping the future of Jenks Public Schools. Set that reminder in your phone now and go VOTE on Tuesday, February 13 in the JPS Bond Election. How will the bond dollars be used? Why does this matter for my student? How does this impact the District's finances? Great questions. Find those answers and a detailed list of bond items at jenksps.org.

Self-Discipline Character Trait winners were recognized during our last assembly. Students cheered for classmates and welcomed our guest speaker, Ragon Francy, a 2025 Jenks High School Graduate, who spoke to students and staff about Responsibility. Ragon is a great example for our students to look up to and we are so proud of the winners for showing great character!

After 35 years of serving JEI and Jenks Public Schools as a school nurse, Kim Dyer has earned a much deserved retirement! Thank you, Kim, for all of your patience, concern and love for students through the years! You have left a great legacy at Jenks East Intermediate and JPS! Please join us in welcoming our new school nurse, Jill Curry. Jill was a Jenks lifer and attended JEI when it was JEMS. She graduated from Baylor Nursing School in 2002 and worked at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas as a NICU nurse before moving to Tulsa. She started her school nursing career at Jenks West and served students from 2003 - 2007, until staying home to raise a family. She also worked as a prn NICU nurse at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa for 10 years. She and her husband have 3 kids who attend Jenks: Emma (Junior), Foster (8th grade), Cash (5th grade.) Jill says, "School nursing is my favorite job and I feel blessed to be back doing what I love with such a wonderful staff at a school that I love!" Welcome to JEI, Mrs. Curry!

Students in Sra. Allen’s Spanish I class have been reading a chapter book that takes place in Chile.  Today, Sra. Venegas came to share about her home country, and brought many things for the kids to play with and look at. The students enjoyed her visit and learned a lot. We are grateful for parent volunteers!

It's Colonial Day at Jenks East Intermediate, which means JEI 5th graders take a trip back in time to experience the 17th and 18th centuries! Students have been learning about the Colonies and what life was like all those years ago. This afternoon, students engaged in activities like making their own butter from scratch, signing their names on the Declaration of Independence using a quill pen and ink, playing popular 17th and 18th-century games, and drawing the flag. What a fun learning experience for these Trojans!
